今日は僕がReggaeで一番好きなRiddimでもある「Bam Bam」のご紹介。

1960年代から活動するバンド「Toots & The Maytals」
元はStudio1で録音、リリースしていたが、コクソンドッドから離れプリンスバスターの元へ。
その後、バイロン・リーのプロデュースで録音を始める。
そこで生まれたのが「Bam Bam」。
そして1966年に「Jamaican Independence Festival Popular Song Competition」で、この「Bam Bam」を歌い優勝。
この頃はスカからロックステディーに移りゆく時代。
まだレゲエと言うジャンルは確立されていなかったが、この「Toots & The Maytals」の曲、「Do The Reggae」で初めて「Reggae」と言う言葉が使われたとか。
